Typography

Description:

For this project, we were challenged to identify different parts of letters. We had to first type out our name so it fits the screen. We had to use a serif font during this because it makes it easier to see the letter parts. Also, by using the line tool, it allowed us to make the baseline, x-height, and caps height for the letters to rest on. The colors didn't play a big role in this project but when it starts to become more advanced in graphic design, then the colors will have a true meaning. There are also some fonts that should not be used in certain situations and a few that are nearly impossible to read.

Learning:

The typeface a graphic designer chooses conveys meaning. There are three main types of font types. They are formal, casual, and decorative. Formal uses a serif which has hooks and feet on the letters. Casual is a sans-serif so it doesn't use hooks or feet. Also, decorative is associated with script, grunge, and many more. Kerning is the space between two letters while tracking is the space between all letters. The last thing we learned is leading which is the space between lines. This project in E-Communication was the one I learned the most from and I hope it continues.
