Color Wheel

Project Overview:

For this project, E-Communication students were challenged to create a color wheel in Adobe Illustrator. We had to use different shapes to create the circles, triangles, and squares in the design. I chose to use a fill with no outline because it makes it look clean and simple. Each color wheel has primary and secondary colors that can be mixed to create almost any color. With the dotted triangle it represents the secondary colors and the solid triangle is the primary colors. These are also known as triad colors.

Learning Experiences:

During this project I learned a little about the color wheel itself but not that much. There are several tools you can use in Adobe Illustrator that appear on the left side of the screen. The ones we used the most were the shape tool, color fill tool, and the text tool. Once creating the circle and triangles for the colors to appear on, it got a little challenging. You have align the shapes so it looks visually appealing. I would have to say the most annoying part for me was changing the colors. I am sort of a perfectionist and it annoys me if the colors don't look right. Also when exporting our video as a web legacy, we had to select a preset and uncheck the transparency mark so it could be used everywhere.

Overall:

After viewing my finished color wheel, I am pleased with it. My shapes look very organized on the circle and are the same size. If there was something I could do differently, it would be to change my colors so they look more similar to the actual color wheel. Also I would put the words inside their corresponding colors and change the text so it would be visible. Overall this was a pretty simple project and was a great way to start off in Graphic Design. I hope the future projects are just as fun and let me get to be more creative.
